Ebadi Speaks On The Private Sector
and Human Rights
(Washington D.C. June 15, 2004) ----The Nobel Peace Prize
laureate Shirin Ebadi visited International Finance Corporation
(IFC) headquarters recently to speak on the topic of human
rights and the private sector. Her entire speech, which includes
a translation from Farsi to English, were produced by Vodium,
the Washington D.C. based webcast communications company.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of The
World Bank Group, selected Vodium to provide full web based
communications for its presentation of Nobel Peace Prize Winner,
Shirin Ebadi, the first Muslim woman to receive the honor.
Ebadi, noted that organizations such as the World Bank have
an obligation to incorporate human rights in their investment
strategies. Remarks by Assad Jabre, IFC Vice President of
Operations, and Avi Garbow, Vice Chair of the International
Human Rights Committee of the American Bar Association, precede
Ms. Ebadi's presentation.
While this marks the first time Vodium utilized Farsi, the
company has produced webcasts in a variety of languages. The
site includes video footage enhanced with synchronized transcript
that can be searched simultaneously for topics of interest.
Corrie Shanahan, Chief Media and Marketing, IFC, explained
the strategy to produce an interactive conference to global
participants, at the convenience of their desktop.
